Hi, I’m Rebecca.
From a young age, art was my passion, leading me to pursue degrees in visual development and media arts. Yet I wanted change, a way to use my artistic skill to affect the lives of everyday people, not just in a movie or behind the scenes. This led me to discover UX Design, a field that allows me to use my artistic knowledge and creative mind to be more focused on solving life's everyday problems.
While discovering this field, I also found that many skills I had gained previously translated well to the needs of a UX designer. My skills in design principles and visual trends are valuable in guiding my decisions on what users are looking for and what works now in the current climate. Experience with people and good communication skills help me put user participants at ease, providing a supportive space to express their wants and needs. Strength with organization and adaptability keep my mind open to new alternatives and ideas while being able to share my ideas without confusion. The ability to tell a story through art allows me to see the user’s journey through a product and the flow of the designs together as a whole.
What interests me most about UX Design is its focus on clearly defining the problem rather than the solution. In the future, I hope to work for a company as either a UX Designer who focuses on discovering the user journey and defining the elements needed for a successful solution or a UI designer who focuses on the visual elements of the design that guide the user through the product to the preferred outcome.
